Ingredients:
- Wheat flour 300 grams
- Baking soda 4 grams
- Butter 60 grams
- Chicken egg 1 piece
- Kefir 180 ml.
- Salt, sugar to taste
- For filling:
- Potato 200 grams
- Minced meat 300 grams
- Mayonnaise 50 ml.
- Onion 100 grams
- 2 carrots
- Olive oil 1-2 tbsp. spoons
- Salt, pepper to taste
- Egg yolk 1 piece
- Milk 15 ml.
Cooking method:
Step 1. Prepare the dough: mix kefir, eggs, melted butter, 1/2 teaspoon of fine salt and 1 teaspoon of granulated sugar. Stir the ingredients until smooth, gradually add wheat flour and soda. Leave the finished dough at room temperature for 20 minutes.
Step 2 Prepare the filling for the English pie with potatoes and meat. Boil the potatoes in their skins, peel, grate the potatoes on a fine grater. Fry carrots in oil or also boil in their skins.
Step 3 Add mayonnaise and salt to the potatoes to taste, mix.
Step 4 Stuffing minced meat with finely chopped onions, season with salt and spices. In England, Indian spices are held in high esteem, so I recommend curry powder for meat.
Step 5 In a pan, heat a tablespoon of olive oil, fry the minced meat for 5-6 minutes, stir so that the meat is fried evenly.
Step 6 Sprinkle flour on the desktop, roll the dough into a circle 1 cm thick, about 1.5 times the diameter of the mold. Grease the form with olive oil, carefully lay out the dough.
Step 7 At the bottom of the pie lay a layer of boiled potatoes with mayonnaise, then add boiled or fried carrots, spread evenly over the entire surface.
Step 8 Put the fried and cooled meat on the carrots.
Step 9 Raising the edges of the dough, form a cake with a hole in the center for ventilation. For glaze, mix raw egg yolk and a tablespoon of milk, grease the dough to get a golden crust when baking.
Step 10 Next, make a relief pattern with a fork so that the top does not seem boring.
Step 11Heat the oven to t 175 degrees Celsius, bake an English pie with potatoes and meat for about 35 minutes until golden brown.
