To make sure of naturalness. 3 ways to test honey at home

About how, when buying, to understand that you have good and high-quality honey, I wrote in a previous article.

I also advised not to immediately take a large amount of honey, but to take, as they say, a small jar for testing. At home, you can better try it out and conduct a series of elementary experiments.

So, there are many ways to check honey for naturalness at home, I will share the simplest and most often used by me.

Method 1:

Dip a small slice of bread in honey. If honey is not natural, then the bread will get wet. In natural honey, bread will continue to maintain its solid form.

Natural honey lies on the surface of the paper.

Method 2:

Drop a drop of honey on a piece of paper. If the honey is not natural, the paper will completely absorb the drop. A drop of natural honey, on the contrary, will lie on paper without absorbing a slide.

Method 3:

Often starch is added to fake honey as a thickener. Determining its presence is also quite simple. Add a couple drops of iodine to honey. If there is starch, iodine will turn blue. In natural honey, iodine simply dissolves.

Natural iodine honey does not turn blue.

To determine the presence of antibiotics in honey at home, unfortunately, is impossible.

Therefore, I advise you to get acquainted and buy honey, only from a trusted beekeeper. It will not be superfluous to visit the apiary of this beekeeper at least once. A clean and respectable beekeeper will never refuse you this.

And the last piece of advice never chase cheap honey! Each beekeeper knows the value of his product. Natural honey is never cheap. Do not save on your health.
