Over the past 100 years, progress has leaped very far. You can take as an example any branch of agriculture and we will see that human labor has long been replaced by machinery and other equipment. Fields, for example, do not plow on horses, the tractor copes with this faster and easier.
Beekeeping, too, has not spared progress! For a long time no one contains bees in hollows and decks. Beehives are transported on special platforms, electric honey separators have appeared, and beekeeping technology itself has been introduced, cardinal changes have been made, which greatly simplifies the work of a modern beekeeper. But despite all this,
beekeeping is still not a simple and easy task.
If, for example, a teacher in a school does not have physical activity as such, but rather moral, the beekeeper has the opposite.
I will give you just a few numbers so that you have at least some idea of what I mean. One honey frame weighs from 3 to 5 kg, the honey body can weigh from 35 to 60 kg. A whole hive sometimes reaches 180 kilograms or more.
In addition, if the apiary is nomadic, then frequent night moving, living in the forest or in the field, in general the most real Spartan conditions, without a normal soul and other everyday life, are required.
In my life I met only two times female beekeepers.
It's as rare as meeting a paver, welder, or truck driver woman. Only a male librarian or a manicurist can compare with this.
Just don’t think that I want to offend the whole female sex, please don’t blame me for not tolerance. After all, this does not mean that a woman has absolutely no place in the apiary.
There is a lot of work that women do even better than men. Most often, girls and women are attracted during the pumping of honey, to cut the grain from the honey frame.
This is a job that requires not only speed, but also accuracy. She is quite monotonous with which, as practice has shown, the fairer sex do better. At the same time, men are busy bringing heavy honey frames to the pumping room. With such an organization of labor, everyone is in place and work is going well.
But despite all the above, I still advise women and children to visit the apiaries of their friends and relatives, just as a guest. Peaceful working buzz of bees, very calms the human nervous system.
Do you divide professions into male and female? What do you say about female beekeepers, you know those? Tell me.
