The biorevitalization procedure has few noticeable side effects, so an increasing number of patients are resorting to it, who want to rejuvenate the skin of the face. But there are consequences, and one of them is the appearance of dermal papules - hemispherical tubercles that form at the injection sites. What is this phenomenon and what is it talking about? Let's figure it out.
Is the appearance of papules the norm?
The appearance of papules is considered a permissible norm. in biorevitalization: the injection technique itself is called “papular”. During the procedure, the doctor immerses the needle into the tissues intradermally (cut up), for which the minimum possible angle to the skin surface is selected. The resulting tubercles represent an accumulation of a liquid preparation under the skin; their size largely depends on the area of the face. So, infiltrates up to a millimeter in size are usually formed near the eyelids, and, for example, in the cheeks or décolleté area, papules 2 and 3 mm in size can be formed, respectively.
Hyaluronate is a viscous transparent substance of dense texture, capable of retaining intracellular fluid. When punctured and injected, it forms a hemispherical elevation in the deep layers of the dermis, displacing outwardly located layers of skin. Visually, a tubercle called papule forms on the surface of the skin.
To begin with, we want to immediately reassure those who are scared of subcutaneous papules that appeared immediately after hyaluronate injections. Such infiltrates in the vast majority of cases are not a complication or a consequence of an incorrect technique for administering the drug. The reason for their appearance is as follows: the density of hyaluronate introduced under the skin is quite high, and it takes time to assimilate and completely absorb it.
The synthesized molecules of hyaluronic acid are synthesized by connective tissue cells (fibroblasts). Biorevitalization imitates the natural production of glycosaminoglycan, due to which the skin tissue turgor rises, and the face is visibly tightened, gaining lost freshness.
After biorevitalization, there are no papules?This phenomenon is quite rare, but it is also possible. As a rule, the reason is the low density of injectable hyaluronic acid, as a result of which it is delayed for a short time in the dermis. The effect of this procedure will not last long, and biorevitalization will have to be repeated in the near future. Also papules are often not visible if the patient has a specific structure of the skincharacterized by increased density and thickness.
In some cases, dermal infiltrates do not appear due to the fact that the needle was inserted too deep during injection of the drug and hyaluronate entered the subcutaneous space. This is considered a violation of the technology of the procedure and indicates a low qualification of the doctor.
What can papules look like?
The visual norm for post-injection infiltrates is whitish elevation above the surface of practically unchanged skin. Papules may have a pink or reddish tint, this is also acceptable. Since the cosmetologist administers the drug according to a certain scheme, measuring the distance, the papules look like a uniform network of tubercles. Some compare this effect with “alligator skin”.
It should be remembered that an increase in papules in size after the first hours after biorevitalization is the norm.
By the end of the first day, they will lose about a third of the volume and, in the future, will gradually dissolve. Do not worry if during the first week some tubercles change color, unless this is accompanied by an increase in pain symptoms and fever. The appearance of small bruises, pinpoint hematomas and redness is also possible: this phenomenon is more often observed in the periorbital region (near the eyelids).
How many days do papules last?
When administered subcutaneously, hyaluronate is not immediately absorbed by the tissues. In many respects, the preservation of dermal infiltrate depends on the individual characteristics of the patient's body: the density of the structure of the drug and the depth of immersion of the needle during injection are also important. The following factors are understood as individual features:
- The speed and activity of blood supply to the dermal layers;
- Lymphatic drainage intensity;
- The thickness and density of the skin, its turgor and degree of moisture.
Remember: the denser the hyaluronate preparation, the longer the papule remains at the puncture site!
Resorption time does not have strictly limited frames. Usually infiltrates after biorevitalization disappear within 2 to 4 days. If the patient has thin and sensitive, or dehydrated skin, the regeneration period lengthens. The permissible time for resorption of post-injection papules is a week. Over the next three to four days, the skin of the face is fully restored and takes on a healthy look.
How to get rid of papules faster after biorevitalization?
Unpleasant tubercles dotting the cheeks, forehead and other parts of the face are unlikely to be liked by patients who underwent biorevitalization, and those around them will certainly not be delighted. How to stimulate the regeneration of the skin and in parallel to prevent the occurrence of complications after injection? It turns out that observing simple regulations:
- In the first weeks after biorevitalization, be extremely careful with your face. Do not touch it with dirty hands or try to squeeze papules. It is recommended to sleep only on the back: you cannot bury your face in a pillow and cover it with a blanket;
- Any mechanical manipulation of puncture sites is a huge risk factor. Do not massage or apply pressure to the subcutaneous swelling., this will not help relieve puffiness;
- In the first day after the procedure, the patient you can not wash and use makeup and / or makeup. It is allowed only to lightly wipe the eyelids and eyes with moist cotton pads squeezed from excess moisture (provided that biorevitalization of the skin of the eyelids has not been carried out);
- For 7-15 days, sun exposure is strictly limited. Whenever possible, wear hats or hats with wide visors. Wearing sunglasses is not recommended, as they will come in contact with injured skin. To speed up the resorption of papules, treat your skin with an antiseptic approved by your doctor every day. In order not to injure the puncture site, apply an antiseptic by tamping. For the procedure, use cotton swabs or discs, or twisted gauze tows and cotton swabs.
Why don't papules last long?
During normal natural recovery after biorevitalization, resorption of subcutaneous papules takes place during the first 3 to 4 days after the procedure. A week after the injection, the points from punctures on the skin completely disappear. However, some patients complain that subcutaneous bumps persist for a longer time.
With the most negative scenario, papules do not disappear for several months. What is the reason for this phenomenon and can it be avoided? Beauticians talk about several factorscapable of provoking a slowdown in the process of skin regeneration after biorevitalization:
- Incorrectly selected or poor-quality injection drug - An experienced specialist at a preliminary consultation selects the type of funds based on hyaluronic acid, based on the individual characteristics of the body and the skin condition of the patient. If the preparation has a too thick consistency, it is transported to the deeper layers of the dermis and epidermis more slowly, due to which the papules formed during the administration of the gel with the needle will dissolve longer. However, such drugs usually give a longer lasting effect. If an unverified agent was selected and, worse, it could be overdue for use, no one can guarantee the rapid passage of subcutaneous swelling;
- Disturbed hyaluronic acid administration technique - subcutaneous infiltrates are often the result of improper administration of hyaluronate. If it went too close to the epithelium, hyaluronic acid will be absorbed slowly. Accordingly, the papules will go away in a few weeks or longer;
- Biorevitalization procedures at a too young age - to carry out injections of hyaluronic acid up to 25-30 years makes sense only for medical reasons. Young girls (and, of course, guys who also sometimes inject hyaluronate) in the tissues of the epidermis and dermis contain a sufficient amount of their own hyaluronic acid. With its “conflict” with a substance introduced from outside, the absorption of glycosaminoglycan slows down quite a lot, because of which nodular infiltrates may not dissolve over time;
- Individual skin features - the most “blurred” reason, since it’s precisely the individual hypersensitivity to hyaluronate or the personal characteristics of the patient’s condition and health that the cosmetologists who claim to make papules often attribute to their inexperience. Nevertheless, the factor of personality is real, and it should be taken into account.
So that the resorption of infiltrates is not delayed, it is recommended that the prescriptions given by the physician who performed the biorevitalization procedure are strictly followed. Otherwise, the unaesthetic effects of injections can significantly impair appearance. In the first days after the procedure, do not wash your face with hot water and use skin care products.
Rubbing, scratching, pressing on swelling or in any other way affect papules is strictly prohibited.
Any mechanical manipulations can lead to the migration of the drug to nearby tissues, and the consequences will be unpredictable. Do not treat infiltrates with alcohol. It is simply dangerous to squeeze them out, as you can cause an infection and provoke erysipelas or another fatal dermatological condition.
When do I need to see a doctor?
Within a week after injections of hyaluronic acid, the skin of the face will be actively restored. If after the indicated time the papules do not resolve, you can consult a specialist who performed the biorevitalization procedure. However, if the infiltrates have changed density and temperature, become painful, reddened or have a different shade, consult a dermatologist immediately.
Also disturbing are the following symptoms:
- Renewed or intensified swelling of the skin at the site of punctures;
- Compaction of papules, soreness when touching the skin or without it;
- The appearance of vesicles (small vesicles) or a rash of a different kind;
- Serous, purulent or hemorrhagic exudate, separating from papules;
- An increase in body temperature and / or local temperature in the areas of injection-treated skin tissue;
- Other uncharacteristic symptoms of an unknown etiology.
If the resulting small papules after biorevitalization sharply increased in size or an allergic rash has joined them, and if any of these symptoms are present, seek medical help urgently. Procrastination is extremely dangerous since sepsis may be the most severe consequence of inflammation of puncture sites.
