In August, Orthodox believers in Russia celebrate the Feast of the Transfiguration and Apple Savior. By this date, summer usually begins to decline, which the ancestors symbolically perceived as the farewell of the warm season and the entry into power of autumn and winter. The holiday gave many signs, beliefs and rituals. The most important Christian prayers are also associated with it.
Beliefs and signs of Apple Savior
Celebrating the harvest festival in accordance with tradition is a special art. There is a whole set of rules about what you can and cannot do on this day. Let's start with the bans.
So, on the Feast of Apple Savior, you should never:
- Banging around the house - any duties associated with the household, if they do not relate to cooking or harvesting, are left for a while. What you definitely can’t do is knitting, embroidery, construction and repair work. Ancestors were especially forbidden to sew on Apple Spas, since it was believed that it would lead to long tears in the future;
- Quarrel with insects - slamming or even sticking a fly on a harvest festival will be a great sin. But if the fly lands on the arm twice, then for another whole year luck will not turn away from you;
- Abuse (all) - immoderate fun, eating too much and drinking a lot of alcohol is regarded as unacceptable behavior, because at this moment the Assumption Post is still going on.
Particularly condemned on the day of the Savior, the clarification of relations, quarrels and conflicts with close people and friends. It is unacceptable to wish unhappiness to any person, even if he caused you a strong offense. But a prayer for the Savior Yabloko is necessary if you want to celebrate the holiday according to Orthodox customs.
What are the signs on the harvest festival? We list the main ones:
- If you treat the poor man with an apple, abundance will pour in for the next year. The sign also works in the opposite direction: not to see a single beggar on the day of the Savior is a bad sign;
- In Apple Spas, they harvest not only fruits, but also legumes - in particular peas. To improve health, you must eat at least one apple in honey. Peas are not consecrated in the church, but its harvest symbolizes abundant life over the next 12 months;
- Eating apples before the coming of the Savior is a bad omen;
- Popular legend says that cereals that have not been harvested for Apple Savior will certainly deteriorate;
- In Russia, it was customary to stock up on Spas with hands for work in the field or garden. The sign does not bear much sense;
- The Slavs believed that the weather holding on the day of the Savior would be mirrored six months later - in January.
Rites and conspiracies
During Apple Savior, it is effective to conduct various magical rituals and conspiracies. The rituals performed on that day to attract love and wealth will be especially effective.
Conspiracy for material abundance
Stock up on fresh apples this year. Wrap one fruit in a new nightie and say at least seven times:
“I call on new things and rubles for myself; I wish you all prosperity.”
You cannot eat a charmed apple. He is hidden with a cloth in a secluded corner until the next Savior. Next year it is buried under an apple tree or in any other place.
Rite to attract love
Take a ripe apple, a metal ring (it can be steel or tin, precious metal is optional), a natural candle and a sharp knife. On the eve of the Savior, at night, strip off your clothes, stand in the middle of the room. Cut a small hole in the apple and place a ring in it. Put wax in it and cork it. Say it like this:
“I am calling for love, I’m waiting for my betrothed, let the ring attract him, and the sweetness of the apple lure.”
Keep the apple in the room, covering it from prying eyes. When the ritual works, you can get rid of it.
Rite of secret desire
No training required. Bite the juiciest apple that was brought from the church, and guess to yourself what you need most at the moment. Repeat desire at least three times.
Prayers for Spas Apple
The celebration of Apple Savior according to church canons involves the deduction of prayer addresses to the saints, in which you can ask them for assistance in affairs of love or healing the soul and body. The Christian religion considers prayers uttered at the Transfiguration of the Lord to be filled with the highest grace and light. The celebration itself is an embodiment of the acceptance and understanding of the faith of Christ. In addition to short texts aimed at finding specific tasks, one should read such prayers as: “Our Father”, “Symbol of Faith”, “Living Help”.

Prayer to the Transfiguration
Apple Savior falls on one of the strictest Orthodox posts, the Assumption. Its beginning starts five days before August 14, and the end is marked by the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin in two weeks.In August, the church dedicates the ritual abstinence from food to the Mother of God and her sacrificial feat.
The Transfiguration itself is directly related to the figure of Jesus. Scripture teaches that up to this point, his disciples refused to believe in the truth regarding the imminent death of Christ and his acceptance of his fate. Congratulations on the holiday: how to congratulate, what to wish?
To correctly mark Apple saved, do this:
- In the morning, visit the church service, where you need to consecrate what was harvested. You can bring not only apples, but also natural honey, clusters of grapes, pears, plums, bunches of rye or wheat;
- On arrival home, talk with an apple slice dipped in honey. You can take other food only after that. Conversation does not mean "gluttony": lean fooddespite the holiday, as the Orthodox continue to fast. The best option for the festive table - fresh or thermally processed (baked, fried, boiled) apples;
- Having bitten the fruit consecrated in the church, you will bring the fulfillment of any desire closer. That is why it is best to congratulate someone by giving him an apple consecrated in the service.
