What is the difference between tinting and staining?
Hair coloring from tinting is primarily different due to the composition that is applied to the hair. In the first case, an oxidizing agent of at least 3% is used, and more often dye your hair by 4.5%, 6% or 9%. For tinting, 3% of an oxidizing agent or activator of 1.5% is sufficient. Although it happens 1.9% and 2% - it all depends on the brand.
Also hair dye manufacturers produce separate rulers for tinting. That is, when you want to adjust the lightening background (this is the color that was obtained as a result of lightening the hair with the help of special powders), remove the unnecessary shade, or vice versa, add brightness to the color that turned out when dyeing, tint the hair! And for this there is a special professional paint!
The nuances of toning blond paint
We propose to dwell in more detail on the issue of toning blond hair. First, let's immediately clarify that household paint hair does not tint! They include everyone’s favorite products that are sold in ordinary supermackets (Palette, Londa, Garnier, etc.). Yes, these are precisely those dyes where in one box there are gloves, a tube of paint, and an oxidizing agent. Sometimes there is even shampoo and balm. So, no matter what brand of this household paint you choose, coloring will turn out, since manufacturers do not put less than 6% of the oxidizer in the box.
So, the need for toning blond hair arises in every blonde, since such curls, after about 3-4 weeks after a visit to the salon, cease to be ashy and acquire a yellow tint. The reasons why the hair turns yellow are many, among them the composition of the water you wash your hair with, the care products used, and the frequency of use of the iron and hair dryer. By the way, it is regular straightening of curls with an iron that is the main reason for their yellowing, since the dye is more quickly excreted under the influence of hot temperatures.
In order to tint the hair in an ashy, pearl, pink shade, it is necessary to purchase a dye of the corresponding color (professional!) And an oxidizing agent of 1-5-3% (depending on the brand, as some have 1.5% tinting, others 2% or 3%). Mix dye and oxidant and distribute the composition along the length. The composition for tinting does not paint over the gray hair, so applying it to the roots does not make sense. The paint on which it is indicated "for tinting" helps get rid of an undesirable shade, in our case, yellowness.Also, with its help, you can get the desired shade, for example, pearl blond. But for this, the base itself (that is, your hair that you plan to dye) should be as light as possible.
Example: Imagine that you have a blonde of level 9 with a yellow tint and you decided to tint it with Estel Essex paint (it is popular and relatively inexpensive among professional ones). You will need a tube of paint (suitable 10/76 or 9/76) and a jar of activator of the same company (you can not mix paint and activator of different companies - this is important!) By 1.5%.
To tint a yellow blond into ashen, you need paint with a purple pigment. The result is a nice gray tint. But you should not take ashy paint for tinting yellow hair, as green hair can turn out. This capricious dye is left to the masters.
Masks, shampoos, balms - the easiest way to tint home
Home tinting with professional paint is a complicated procedure. It is wrong to choose a shade and everything, instead of ashes, you have greens on your hair. Therefore, it is much easier to maintain an attractive shade on the hair with the help of makeup products. These are masks, balms and shampoos.
So, to get rid of the yellow color on the hair, you must use a shampoo, mask or balm with a purple pigment. In any professional brand (Estel, Igora, Loreal, etc.) they are, so choose based on the budget. It is not necessary to use tinting agents with every shampoo. It is enough to perform this procedure once a week. If using a mask or balm, carefully apply the product on the hair and leave it on for 5-15 minutes. Then rinse with warm water and be sure to use thermal protection when drying.
No tonic, please!
After all, everyone remembers these cans of green, on which images of girls with hair of all colors of the rainbow. Of course, in the picture it all looks amazing, but in reality there will never be such an effect. Firstly, such a budgetary tool cannot replace complex salon work (and in order to get perfectly blue hair you need to try soooooooooo much!). Secondly, then it’s very difficult to get rid of the tonic. When brightening, the most unexpected pigments are "crawled out", so if you have experimented with this product at home, be sure to inform the master. He must know what he is dealing with.
So, tinting the yellow blond with tonic is the worst idea. It is best to use professional hair cosmetics at home, as you can get confused with the paint and get a not-so-desired result.
