Prayer - a spiritual and open conversation with God, takes the main place in the life of a believer. We turn to Him when we feel bad, asking the Lord about the causes of life's turmoil. We give thanks to Heaven for the good events that have occurred in our lives, we ask them to help ourselves, our relatives and friends. The reasons for prayers are different: good, bad, neutral. You can pray to get rid of troubles and illnesses, or asking for grace in deeds, family life, love, health. Prayers that can be read every day are presented in the article.
Prayers that help everyone and always and which you need to know
It is customary to address God with special words. They are called to be a means of help in all situations, a means of communication with the Lord, regardless of circumstances. They act as spiritual support and purification of the soul from negative energy. Prayers of this kind have a beneficial effect on the mind, opening up new possibilities and restoring clarity to the mind.
Among such prayers, three are especially distinguished. “Our Father”, a prayer to the Guardian Angel and a prayer to the Council of the Twelve Apostles from troubles and troubles. Similar ones are read regardless of the time of day, circumstances of reading and the mood of the prayer. If the mood at the time of the ritual leaves much to be desired, God's words will help to raise it and find peace of mind. If the prayer is in a wonderful, high spirits - prayer will only improve him, give vivacity, energy and well-being.
- Our Father
The first thing any Christian remembers when he says “prayer.” Everyone needs to know it, they bison her by heart in childhood. In Sunday schools, lessons begin with her. In ancient times, this conversion was the first given to the people of the people by Jesus Christ. It is called the most perfect Christian prayer, and it was given by Jesus in response to the request of the disciples to teach them how to pray properly.
Church Slavonic version of “Our Father” sounds like this:
Our Father, Say in heaven!
Thy name be holy,
Thy kingdom come
Thy will be done
like in heaven and on earth.
Give us our daily bread today;
and leave us our debt
like we leave our debt;
and do not lead us into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one.
Another version of “Our Father” is also known, which is simpler and closer to Russian people:
Our Father in heaven!
Hallowed be thy name;
Thy kingdom come;
Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven;
Give us our daily bread to this day;
And forgive us our debts, just as we forgive our debtors;
And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.
For Thine is the kingdom and power and glory forever. Amen.
(Matt. 6: 9-13)
- Appeal to the Guardian Angel
Prayer to the Guardian Angel is read every morning. Serious attitude to her and sincere faith in her power will give the reader constant protection from ills for the whole day.
Read this text:
Oh, holy angel who intercedes with our Creator for my soul, my body, and my life! Do not leave me, and do not depart from me for all my sins.I beg you, do not let the crafty demon take possession of my soul and my body. Strengthen my soul and direct it to the true path. I ask you, the angel of God and the keeper of my soul, forgive me all the sins with which I have offended you for my entire unrighteous life. Forgive all my sins that I committed on the day past, and protect me on the new day. Save my soul from various temptations, lest I anger our Creator. I ask you, pray for me before our Creator, that his mercy and peace of mind come upon me. Amen.
Another variant of prayer, short but also strong, is read before leaving home or on the way to work:
My angel come with me
All day
I will live with faith
And to serve you.
Before going to bed, another prayer is read to the Guardian Angelaimed at protecting from evil in a dream when a person is most vulnerable:
The angel of God, my holy keeper, given to me from God from heaven is given! I diligently pray thee: you enlighten me this day, and save from all evil, guide me to a good deed, and direct me on the path of salvation. Amen.
- Appeal to the Apostles
Prayer to the Council of the Twelve Apostles - support for the whole family.
With its help, you can impose protection on all relatives and friends:

Hear our prayers and sighs, with a broken heart now brought and help us, servants of God (names), with your powerful request before the Lord, get rid of all evil and hostility of flattery, firmly betrayed by you Orthodox faith to be preserved, in it by your representation no wounds, We will not be offended, nor by grief, nor by any anger from our Creator, but we will live a peaceful life and be able to see the good on the living earth, glorifying the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, the One and Only One in the Trinity and worship God, now and ever and ever. centuries.
How to pray
Come to any church, ask the priest how to pray properly and the answer will be short: with all your heart. No matter where and how you will pray, it is important to put all your sincere faith in the spoken words.
If there is no opportunity to visit the temple, you can pray at home. It is recommended to do this in solitude, both in the morning and in the evening. At night, it is advised to light a church candle, for better concentration and purification of the atmosphere. Also, it will not be superfluous (but not mandatory) to have an icon in front of your eyes. Turning to a specific saint, the icon must correspond to it, in classical prayer the icon can depict the baby Jesus or the Mother of God.
Strong prayers for all occasions
The reasons people pray can be different. Someone feels that his affairs have gone wrong, his health condition has worsened and asks the saints for strength. Someone asks for leniency and divine direction. Someone asks for something specific: profit, success, love. There are strong prayers for all occasions that help in all situations.
A man in his entire history has created a huge number of powerful prayers for all occasions. However, a word addressed to the Higher Forces must be endowed with life. Mechanical repetition of a prayer book will not help to achieve what is achieved with the help of sincerity coming from the heart. Many priests advise asking for forgiveness, help in resolving complex problems and important issues without memorized prayer.
After “Our Father” it is sometimes much more effective to turn to God with words that themselves come to mind. Such words are more powerful and are closest to the Lord. In fact, prayers are a divine pattern that every Christian is free to modify depending on the situation and his own intuition. However, not everyone succeeds. Not everyone is able to feel the word of God and learn to speak the same language with Him. For such people, there are strong Orthodox prayers, support for those who are only embarking on the true path.
Among them are various Christian appeals, the prayer of the Mother of God and the Lord God Himself.
Mother of God Prayer for Help
The most powerful prayers of the Most Holy are “Hail Virgin Mary, Hail”. This prayer, short and capacious, carries the words of an angel who came to Mary to notify her of the imminent birth of Jesus. “Virgo, rejoice” is one of the strongest requests for the help of the Mother of God, which helps in the majority of life troubles.
Another, not inferior to her in force, is “Prayer for help along the way”. It refers not so much to the road as to the life path of a person in general:
“Oh, my Most Holy Lady, Virgin of the Virgin, Hodegetria, patroness and hope of my salvation! This journey, which I am destined to do, now I want to go away and for the time being I entrust to you, my Mother’s merciful heart, my soul and body, all my clever and material forces, all of which are entrusted to your strong looking and all-powerful Your help. Oh, good companion and Defender of mine! I earnestly pray to Thee, that this my path will not creep, guide me on it, and direct it, the Most Holy Hodegetria, as the very same, to the glory of Your Son, my Lord Jesus Christ, be in all helper, but in the most distant and I will observe many years of difficult journey under Thy dominion from all troubles and sorrows that are found, from enemies visible and invisible, and pray for me, My Lady, Your Son, Christ our God, and send my Angel to help me peace, faithful mentor and guardian, yes as anciently gave to His servant Tobiah Raphael, for all in a certain place and at all times keeping it in a way from all evil: this way and safely managing my path and preserving me with heavenly power - may health return me, peacefully and wholly to my dwelling for the glory of His Holy Name, glorifying and blessing Him in all the days of my belly are great to you now and forever, and forever and ever. Amen".
Another prayer to the Theotokos is even more universal, you can pronounce it in any situation.
Her words themselves are so sincere that you will feel during reading how faith and calmness endow the soul:
What to pray for, what to ask of you? You see everything, you know it yourself: look into my soul and give her what she needs. You, all who have undergone, all who have died, will understand everything.
You, who led the Baby in the manger and received Him with Your own hands from the Cross, You alone know the whole height of joy, all the oppression of grief. You, having received the whole human race in adoption, look at me with maternal care.
From the net of sin, lead me to Your Son. I see a tear watering Your face. It is over me. You shed it and let it wash away the traces of my transgressions. Here I come, I stand, I am waiting for Your response, O Mother of God, o All-World, oh, Mistress!
I ask nothing, only I stand before you. Only my heart, a poor human heart, exhausted in longing for truth, I turn to Thy Most Holy feet, Mistress! Give everyone who calls you to reach you the eternal day and bow to you face to face.
Christian prayers
The Orthodox Church does not divide religious appeals according to any classification. However, Christian prayers for all occasions are divided into four types:
- Petitionerscontaining the forgiveness of the Lord for help in any situation.
- Penitential - designed to express the accumulated and cleanse the soul.
- Grateful - showing appreciation to the higher powers for help.
- Laudatoryglorifying the Lord and saints.
The first type is psalm 90calling for help and protection from evil influence:
“Living in the help of the Most High, in the blood of God, Heaven will be established. The Lord speaks: Thou my protector and my refuge, my God, and I trust in him. Like Toy, he will deliver the cha from the net of prey, and from the word rebellious, His shoulders will overshadow the cha, and under His krill hope: His truth will pass by the arms of the cha. Do not be afraid of the fear of the night, of the arrow flying in the days, of the thing in the darkness of the passing, of the shaking, and the demon of the midday.Thousand will fall from your country, and right at your right hand, it will not come nearer to you, both of you will watch your eyes, and you will see the reward of sinners. For thou, O Lord, my hope, the Most High has laid thy refuge. Evil will not come to you, and the wound will not come near your body, as if by His Angel to command you, save thee in all your journeys. Tha will be raised in your arms, and not when you clasp your foot on a stone, step on an asp and a basilisk, and cross a lion and a serpent. For I trust in Me, and I will deliver it: I will cover it and, for My name is known. He will call to me, and I will hear him: I am with him in sorrow, I will destroy him, and I will glorify him, I will fulfill him for a long time, and I will show him my salvation. ”
Repentant prayers include repentance to Jesus Christ:
“Lord Christ of God, Even with my passions through my healing passions and with my ulcers healed my plagues, grant me, to you many who have sinned, tears of tenderness; dissolve my body from the charm of your life-giving body, and enjoy my soul with your honest blood from sorrow, and her resistance to drink; raise my mind unto thee, drooping down, and raise up from the abyss of perdition: like not an imam of repentance, not an imam of tenderness, not an imam of comforting tears, raising children to His inheritance. Clouded by the mind in worldly passions, I can’t look at You in sickness, I can’t warm myself with tears, even love for You. But, Lord Lord Jesus Christ, the treasure of the good, grant me complete repentance and a loving labor heart to recover Yours, grant me Your grace and renew the sight of Your image in me. Thou who didn’t leave me, go to my extermination, elevate to Thy pasture and keep your chosen Flock in your sheep, raise me with them from the grass of Your Divine Sacraments, Your Prayer to your Most Holy Mater and all Your saints. Amen".
To the grateful is an appeal to the Lord God Himself:
“We thank you, our Lord God, for all your good deeds, even from the first age to the present, in us, unworthy thy servants (names), former, theirs and weights, manifest and undetected, formerly deeds and the word: beloved us Thy and the only begotten Thy Son about us a dignified one, since you are also worthy of your love.
Give Thy word wisdom and Thy fear, breathe strength from Thy strength, and even though you at least or unwillingly sinned, forgive and do not impute, and save our holy soul, and present Thy throne that I have a clear conscience, and the end is worthy of Thy love of mankind; and remember, Lord, all who call on thy name in truth, remember all who are good or who want us to resist: all are Esma's men, and every man in vain; the same prayer to you, Lord, give us your mercy great mercy. "
And finally, glorifying. In addition to the short “Thank God,” which we pronounce every day, there is also canonical long laudatory text:
“The Cathedral of Saints Angel and Archangel, with all the heavenly powers sings Thee, and says: Holy, Holy, Holy Lord of hosts, fill the heavens and the land of Thy glory. Hosanna in the highest, blessed is the one in the name of the Lord, hosanna in the highest. Save me, Save thou in the highest King, save me and sanctify, Source of sanctification; from Thee, all the creature is strengthened, You countless songs of the Holy Trinity. You and the unworthy one, who sits unapproachable in the light, everyone is terrified of him, I pray: I enlighten my mind, cleanse my heart and open my mouth, as if I can worthy of my pet you: Holy, Holy, Holy God, always, now, and in and in endless eyelids of centuries. Amen".
Prayer to the Lord God
The appeal to the Lord is also called “Symbol of Faith”, And among all the true church she is the most powerful. Its text is divided into twelve parts - twelve dogmas of the Orthodox faith. They say about God the Father, about God the Son, about the Holy Spirit, the Church, baptism, the resurrection of the dead, and eternal life.
The generally accepted Russian version reads as follows:
I believe in the unity of God the Father, the Almighty, the Creator of heaven and earth, visible to all and invisible.
And in the unity of the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the Only Begotten, the same from the Father born before all ages; Light from Light, God is true from God is true, born, uncreated, consubstantial with the Father, imzh all of being.
For the sake of us, man and ours, for the sake of salvation, came down from heaven and embodied from the Holy Spirit and Mary the Virgin and became human.
Crucified for us under Pontius Pilate, and the sufferer, and buried.
And risen on the third day according to the Scriptures.
And he ascended into heaven, and the Father is seated at the right hand.
And the packs to come with the glory to judge the living and the dead, His Kingdom will have no end.
And in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the Life-giving, Already from the outgoing Father, Already with the Father and the Son we worship and glorify, having spoken the prophets.
In one Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church.
I confess one baptism for the remission of sins.
I drink the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the next century. Amen".
In conclusion, it is worth noting that with age, each person more and more clearly sees the imprint of his life path. Everyone has certain priorities and preferences. Therefore, before choosing who to pray to, listen to yourself. Pray to the saint to whom you have a soul at the moment. The one with whom you feel a special connection. It is no accident that many Orthodox families name children in honor of saints who patronize their birthdays. Thus, they give their children under the wing of the saints, safely keeping them throughout their lives.
